Duane est de retour!



Duane Kemp a animé l'ouverture du vendredi soir lors des deux dernières éditions des Nuits du Jazz de Chernex, d'abord en remplacement au pied levé, ensuite comme «surprise annoncée». C'est avec un plaisir non dissimulé que nous l'accueillerons cette année, accompagné d'une poignée d'excellents musiciens, aussi bien le vendredi que le samedi soir.
Duane Kemp vient de Boise, Idaho, dans les Rocheuses américaines. Il est arrivé pour la première fois en Suisse en 1996 et il a relocalisé son entreprise Kemp Productions à Palézieux. Bien qu'il soit mieux connu pour sa voix et ses compétences au piano, il est compositeur de musiques de film, professeur de piano, de chant, de guitare et de théorie de la musique.
Kemp Productions se focalise actuellement dans la présentation de multimedia, compositions musicales et films pour les sites web et organise des «Jam Nights» dans la région. Ces soirées donnent l'occasion aux amateurs et aux professionnels de se rencontrer (voir kemppro-events sous: http://www.kemppro.com/php/shop/BusinessEventSend.php).
Duane a payé ses galons en tant que compositeur dans les théâtres professionnels, les comédies musicales, l'opéra et les performances live. Il a composé la musique pour des annonces publicitaires de télévision aux Etats-Unis et il est l'auteur du générique de la série documentaire «Découverte» pour Canal+. En tant que musicien il a un précieux souvenir d'avoir joué deux soirées avec Gene Harris, un grand pianiste de jazz.
Et finalement, pour Duane, la musique est une passion et se place juste après sa foi et son épouse... ce qui ne l'a pas empêché de signer le mixage et le premastering de notre premier CD: NUITS DU JAZZ LIVE02!

Duane Kemp under the Bubble (Tent)

In the setting where speech is necessary, we are tempted to invigorate communication. A large place has been dedicated to dialogue which is the main focus. However, music is also a means of communication and the promoters didn't forget it. They dedicated an evening to Duane Kemp. He appears on the posters with a serious look, nearly austere. But surely, you must have already met him in the region with his small tied pirate hat, big blue eyes full of mischief and a love of life, with an exuberance all American. In this way, you will recognize Duane better (pronounced. Doo Aine).
How did a music composer so known in the USA arrive to Palezieux where he resides? He met Corinne, a young Swiss in Hawaii. He wanted to know her family, her life in Switzerland. He had planned 3 years before returning in his state, Idaho. However, it makes 6 years that he is with us. He also likes Switzerland, yes, but more the rural country because the big open spaces arenecessary to him. If you have the luck to spend one moment with Duane, where he is, you already live a privileged moment. He is always in a good mood, happy to meet some friends. He loves music, but he especially likes to give it to his public. He doesn't play for his pleasure, but to make pleasure. A quiet and passive public depresses him, but people can't help but live music with him, to move to the rhythm, to sing with him. The ambiance is happy, cordial, and especially lively.
Duane is rarely alone in concert. His friends join him on stage : sax, drums, guitar, singer or singers and the evening ends with a small orchestra. Such an evening never leaves you indifferent and you keep a beautiful memory of it. During an entire evening, you have forgotten your worries and your desire to go back home at a descent hour.
He loves his art and the best means to transmit it is to teach young musicians. He teaches currently close to 50 young musicians in Palezieux and the vicinity : piano, guitar, music theory, and voice. His teaching is different from the traditional courses, not of sheet music continually under the eyes ; at home, one doesn't play by heart but with the heart while knowing how to pull from his / her instrument all the marvelous possibilities. He especially works the sensitivity and the ear of his pupils.
And what are his projects ? Though his schedule is very loaded, he dreams forming an orchestra, to compose and to be able to play as much as possible.
Let's wish then that wishes are achieved for his happiness and very sensibly for ours ! But while waiting, we will be able to listen to him Saturday evening, under the Bubble (Tent), since 9:00pm.

...Science-fiction
The film industry in Switzerland is again too small for Duane to work there full-time. His specialty: the movies of science - fiction. He also composes for documentary movies, advertisement spots, web sites, home pages, where he works with his wife, a graphic designer. They possess their own studio. Duane gives concerts or organizes jam sessions. Music emanates from Duane. Wherever he is, he creates a cordial ambiance, even without instruments. Through his voice, because he is also an excellent singer. He bursts of laughter are both thundering and contagious. He loves his art, but he likes even more to give it to his public. He doesn't play for himself, he plays for the happiness of others.
He also improvises according to the ambiance of the room. He doesn't want passive spectators but rather those who live and pulsate music with him.

Jam session
Last year, at the end of September, he gave a concert in Oron, under a cantina tent. He arrived with two friends, and then other musicians came to join them, as well a singer. At the end of the concert, there were not less than six musicians on the stage. In Moudon, he organizes a monthly jam session. You will have the pleasure to live such an evening in Oron-La-Ville, Saturday evening June 8, under the Bubble, at the Sport Center....

The Chernex Music Hall sold out this weekend for the 15th annual Nuits du Jazz (Nights of Jazz). With both Swiss and French groups, the promoters aimed for quality and authenticity, to the greater pleasure of the public. The stirring piano notes, smooth voice, the American Duane Kemp seduced the public by his melodies and charisma. Located in Palezieux for some time, the musician launched the Festival Friday evening at the Chernex Music Hall with a BANG in front of a captured audience setting the stage for the rest....
